Ear flushing: Waterpiks use high pressure water, and i would be concerned about damage to the ear drum with this.  I wouldn't use anything stronger than the bulb syringe that comes with the wax removal kits you can get at the drug store.

Mineral oil: Mineral oil or a mixture of 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% warm water.

Have an expert do it: Wax on the outside of the ear canal is easily removed with a wash cloth or other cleaning measure. You should never put anything into the canal including qtips, peroxide or other drops. The vast majority of ear problems i see are due to well intentioned patients cleaning their ears. I would strongly recommend avoiding anything in the canal. If you have a problem see an ENT and then start fresh.

Go to ENT: Removing wax is best done by ant ENT (ear, nose & throat md). Please find and ENT to help you with removal of ear wax.

See your Pedi: i would have your Pedi or FP take a look first. I would not put anything in the ear, more so with PE tubes. If your ENT is not avilable, find who is in his place, as your child will need follow up with ENT.

Cerumen impaction: How have you cleared your ear canal the last 3 times? Its best to have your ears cleared by your ENT otherwise, you can irrigated or flush your ears, the risk is that if you leave wet cerumen in your ear canal, you are at risk for an infection. If you have ever been told you have a hole in your ear drum, do not irrigate. Never stick anything into your ear canal, especially no Q-tips.

See your doctor.: There should be little trouble with this, provided it is used properly.  Since you had ear problems in the past, it would be smart to see your doctor to be sure you are using this properly, and not causing more problems or damage to your ears.
