Maybe: Fluid that accumulated behind the ears can thicken to the point it may not drain.During the process of inserting tubes,they usually remove this thickened debris with vacuum cleaner like tools.The tubes allow a bypass for new fluid to escape while swollen middle ear tissue recovers. It is more traditional to use in small kids, but might help an adult.A consult with an ENT can help you decide

Depends: Viral infections are known primarily as problems for the inner ear or the middle ear. Viruses attack the middle ear more often than the inner ear . Most viral infections of this space do not have any long term effect on  hearing. Inner ear viral infections are rare, but can occur at any age, including prenatally. These can and do result in permanent hearing loss.

Hearing loss: Hearing loss due to otitis media usually resolves once the infection is controlled provided you do not have a perforated ear drum.

Time: You can try popping your ears, but mostly it is just a matter of time. 50% of people no longer have fluid that is causing the hearing loss at one month after the infection, 90% no longer have fluid at 3 months after the infection. If your hearing is still down at 3 months, you should see an ent.

Depends: During any ear infection a kid will have temporary reduction in hearing due to the muck in the ear for up to 4-6 wks. If the infection & muck is not cleared out within 90 days that muck can turn to a glue like material.Some infections clear without meds, some benefit from having the muck removed & ventilation tubes placed. Most hearing will return to baseline if the ear bones don't stick together.

painful ear infection, fullness, hearing loss and liquid draining from ear. do i need antibiotics or can i wait it out? im taking panamor and myprodol for the pain. also coughing, sore throat.

Otitis media: Sleep on affected ear(for drainage). Use panado, and add decongestant(demazine or suntan.or flustat ).
If not improving after 24-48hrs will need a consultation, and then the possibility of antibiotics
