No: It could be the neck of the mandible or the tissues surrounding it. Treat it like a bad bruise or contusion. If it is not improving or your bite is off, see your dentist. All the best.

i have had minor sinus swelling over the past few days (allergies). however, now my ear hurts when i yawn or burp, and noises seem a little drowned out. i have had a small fungus in the ear 5 years ago, and have a history of chronic ear infections?

See a doctor: We can't diagnose over this platform/without examining your ears. This sounds like it could be fluid behind your eardrum, which is common with allergies and other congestion. This can develop into an infection, which is why you should be examined. Sometimes with allergies and fluid like this a nasal spray with a steroid in it (flonase) can help. If it does not, please see your doctor.

Possible TMJ: It could be an issue with your joint, it could be as simple as the eustachian tube  relieving the pressure difference or could indicate either a tooth or ear infection. If you have  constant pain see your dentist ASAP If it is just occasional, mention it to your dentist the next visit or make an appointment to discuss it. If is only rare or not persistent it is probably nothing to worry with.

Temporal mandibular: joint dysfunction, or inflammation of the joint where the jaw or mandible is attached to the skull will cause pain with chewing, etc.  This is often caused by clenching the teeth, excessive chewing hard foods, or poor alignment of the teeth.  Take ibuprofen for a few days, stop chewing gum or hard foods.  If it doesn't improve, see your dentist for assessment and possible bite guard for sleeping.

Maybe TMJ: Tmj is one of most common causes of ear pain.  This is "referred pain":  feels like ear pain, but generated from something else.

TMJ: Sounds like TMJ  (tempormandibular joint) pain.  Recommend soft diet and , anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen for a few days.  Avoid chewing gum, opening your mouth widely, or chewing with your front teeth until symptoms improve as well.

See ENT: Did you see your regular doctor and what exactly did they do when you say they syringed your ear?  What did they see?  Did you have a cerumen impaction (earwax blockage)?  If not then should see ENT as soon as possible.

Eustachian tube: Probably due to Eustachian tube congestion; this tube connects the inner ear with the back of the nose and throat.  If you have no voice, the cause is much more likely to be viral (ie you don't need antibiotics).  Use Afrin nasal spray over the counter in the left nostril for no more than 3 days to  clear up your ear  Push clears.  Don't take an antihistamine (thickens mucus as side effect).

Eustachian tube: The tube that drains mucous from your middle ear is likely swollen due to the cold. It can open and close when you chew or "pop" your ear and such maneuvers allow the air in and the pressure change can be uncomfortable. This will usually resolve over time as the swelling goes down.Ibuprofen should help for the pain.If it in not improving gradually, have it checked.
