Eustachian tube: Probably due to Eustachian tube congestion; this tube connects the inner ear with the back of the nose and throat.  If you have no voice, the cause is much more likely to be viral (ie you don't need antibiotics).  Use Afrin nasal spray over the counter in the left nostril for no more than 3 days to  clear up your ear  Push clears.  Don't take an antihistamine (thickens mucus as side effect).

Eustachian tube: The tube that drains mucous from your middle ear is likely swollen due to the cold. It can open and close when you chew or "pop" your ear and such maneuvers allow the air in and the pressure change can be uncomfortable. This will usually resolve over time as the swelling goes down.Ibuprofen should help for the pain.If it in not improving gradually, have it checked.

Spray of Afrin (oxymetazoline): You may want to try a single spray of afrin (oxymetazoline) in the left nostril.  It should open the eustachian tube, allowing the pressure to equalize.

Otalgia: Burping can cause rushing of air thru the eustachian tube to ear drum(s),  hence the discomfort.

You might have wax: in your ear canal, but you may have fluid or an infection of your middle ear. I would recommend that you see your doctor to properly diagnose this and treat if necessary.
