i have a sinus infection i also have dust mite,regweed allgery.  just started taking guaifenesin should i stop taking the zyrtec while im on that? how long should i take guaifenesin for sinus. i have pinkish circles around my eyes is that from sinus/

Basics : Guaifenesin is a simple med that loosens secretions so they are easier to cough out. It has no overlap &amp; does not interfere directly with the action of the Zyrtec. Take both if you desire or one or neither if/when they seem to help. Neither would be expected to lead to pink eye circles..but allergies might.

Air conditioning: An air conditioner is a great start. A hepa air purifier can also help. You don't need both. Eliminate all smoking from your home environment including candles & fireplaces. An electric range is preferable to gas. Limit use of aerosol sprays in the home. When you clean ventilate well with open windows & wear eye protection. Wear close fitting sunglasses when venturing outdoors. Avoid smog.

Outside of the eye: The front surface of the eye is surrounded by a membrane (the conjunctiva) which wraps from the edge of the  colored portion (the cornea) posteriorly and folds back to coat the inside of the lids.  This is an external space, not connected to the inside of the eye or body.  So debris entering this space is flushed out by tears and generally poses no hazard unless it is of high velocity and power.

Rinse: Rinse your eyes with clean hands and clean tap water or an eye irrigating solution. Do not rub them! Rubbing often causes scratches, irritation, or infection.

Tears: You child may have plugged up tear ducts. The dust on his lids may be dry mucus secretions
