4dys after wisdom teeth extraction. i see no blood clots n don't have dry socket. only canker sores and stiff jaw. could it be ok for me to smoke?

Smoking is: Never ok. However, 4 days after the wisdom teeth surgery if no bleeding, swelling or pain you can go back to your daily routine.

You can't: You need to get seen by your dentist , you have cold sores and might have a candidia
infection. Eat a mineral rich diet, add foods that will make your body more alkaline. Stay away  caffeine and alcohol. Foods rich in the Amino Acid arginine, chocolate, peanut butter, nuts and onions seem to be associated with a higher incidence. Plenty of salads, raw and cooked vegetables, whole grains.

Unknown: We really don't know why canker sores develop.  They do seem to be related to stress in combination with some irritation to the mucous membranes of the mouth.  This can be from an accidental scratch with toothbrush, hard food, sharp tooth, etc.

Canker Sores: The exact cause of most canker sores is unknown. Stress or tissue injury is thought to be the cause of simple canker sores. Certain foods -- including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables (such as lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes, and strawberries) - can trigger a canker sore or make the problem worse. It usually resolves in a week or 2 but minimizing irritation can help.

Depends: If they occur often you might want to see if avoiding certain chemicals may decrease the amount of them.  A non- sls (sodium lauryl sulphate) toothpaste has helped many of my patients.  Avoiding harsh mouthwashes such as the original listenine has helped others.   If over the counter products don't give you relief you may discuss a medication with you dentist like a kenolog / steroid combination.

Several factors: Canker sore can be related to stress, trauma, vitamin deficiency, sensitivity to certain chemicals, most commonly the sls in many tooth pastes.  It can also be a autoimmune problem.    If your canker sores are large, frequent and many you should talk to your doctor about your immune system.

Various causes...: Food allergies, traumas due to injury borh physical, thermal or chemical. A very common disease is auto immune called lichen planus easily treated after a good diagnosis...Other diseases can cause these problems and should be ruled out...

Canker sores: The canker sore should run a course in about 7-10 days. They can be very sensitive. Visit the drug store, they have a few over the counter ointments you can apply throughout the day to numb it? Stress, spicy foods, cinnamon products, some toothpastes with sls and  a surfactant, vitamin deficiencies can cause canker sores in sensitive mouths. Discuss with yor dentist.

Rinse: There is no real cure for a mouth full of canker sores but one thing you can do to make it feel better is create a rinse of  1/2 maalox and 1/2 benedryl liquid. Swish it around you mouth for 1 min and spit it out.
The benedryl reduces some of the inflammation and the maalox helps sooth it.

Minimal: Since the tissue is supplied with blood, you can expect that they are connected .  Since canker sores are not likely to be from an infection per se (vs cold sores), they will not cause systemic invasion.
