why would  i get a dry mouth after drinking lots of water?

Accepted Answer

Not sure: Dry mouth could be attributed to a number of different things.  Systemic problem or medication comes to mine.  I would seek care from a doctor to see if there is any issues that you need to be concerned with.  Good luck.

can post nasal drip cause dry mouth? i wake up with dry mouth then goes away after drink water.i always swallowing thin mucus that won't come up.can t

Mouth-breathing?: You likely have nasal obstruction as well and mouth-breathing while asleep can give you dry mouth.  Consult your doctor to see if you have nasal problem and then observe whether reducing the nasal obstruction leads to improvement in your dry mouth.  Dry mouth may also be caused by inflamed salivary glands presumably from an autoimmune process.

Kidney test: If you have not already done so, get with your physician and see whether you can concentrate your urine above specific gravity 1.020.  We want to rule diabetes insipidus (pituitary, renal) in or out; i trust your general medical labs are unremarkable and you are not diabetic.

how can i tell the different between dry mouth and excessive thirst? lately i have been feeling like my mouth is dry and i keep drinking water but nothing helps. i dont feel thirsty though my mouth just feels dry. im worried?

: Anxiety can cause one to have dry mouth. If you are under more than usual stress, that may be the explanation.
It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated.

Yes it may: Changes in taste; dry mouth; headache; indigestion; mild diarrhea just a few side effects induced by amox tr-k. If concerned call your treating physician for medication adjustment. Keep drinking fluids in the meantime.

More info needed..: Xerostomia (dry mouth) can be cause by so many different factors.. so hard to tell what may be your problem without a complete medical history. Your anxiousness and nervousness may be a contributing factor. Please see your physician for a complete workup and consultation.

Occluded airway: Dry mouth not related to  maintenance medicine use, maybe a sign of an altered airway causing one to breathe through their mouth almost all the time.
Have your dds/dmd check your bite. Some bites are predictors of a limited airway. Then see an ENT for an air way evaluation. 
Loud snoring during sleep , awaking to your own snoring are tips of this.  Many dds/dmd now treat sleep disorders.

Need more info: You should talk to your doctor.  It may simply be the hormone changes of pregnancy but you want to make sure it is not diabetes.

See your dentist: You may be mouth breathing at night. See your dentist for other signs of this and they may recommend an evaluation by an ENT to see why you may not be breathing as well through your nose.
