post traumatic stress disorder i have been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, 2 times in my life by henry ford hospital.  if i go to a doctor, or therapist i'm sure there will be a third diagnoses.

what can i do to help me move through this.

Although : Although post traumatic stress disorder may resolve completely, it can also become more symptomatic with new traumas.   The three main categories of symptoms are avoidance, reliving and hyperarousal.  Avoidance is a hallmark symptom. You might want to avoid people, places, sounds, smells, events that trigger feelings or memories associated with the traumatic events.  Reliving can take the form of nightmares or during the daytime you may have memories of old traumas, or feel like you are back there again. The most significant form of reliving is called flashbacks.  These are vivid and the person actually believes they are back in their traumatic situation. It can be accompanied by hallucinations.  Hyperarousal means that you may be more reactive. You may have insomnia, be irritable, your heart rate might sore as if you were about to respond to danger when it isn't present. 
   The good news is that ptsd is treatable.  You might wish to see a therapist who is experienced in cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt) or cognitive processing  therapy (cpt).  Sometimes medications are indicated.  Medical acupuncture is also used to treat ptsd.

dr referred to what i have as hospital delirium..what does this mean?

Confusion from meds: In hospital patients are subjected to a variety of meds that can cause sedation. And disorientation.  In older patients they may experience "sun downing", a phenomenon of disorientation as night. Fall when, when stimuli are decreased, leading to confusion and delium.

how do i know if its severe as his dr did not seem to concerned sent me for bloods but my sons vain didn't work he also did not explain anything to me just sent me for bloods but my son seems a little better must i take him to be admitted at hospital?

Talk to Doc: Could not understand all of the problem.Did they get the blood,regardless need blood work to diagnosis the problem.Also it makes difference in age?-really young or older so need more info.There multiple reasons for. Jaundice from newborn jaundice,mononucleosis,hepatitis,other infections as well as hemolytic anemia,etc.Some more serious than other so youneed to get back with doc or nurse to explain

how do i tell my dr that i want a 2nd opinion? i dont want to offend him. and the other dr that i want a 2nd opinion is in the same hospital.

Second opinion.: I would just let the physician know that it would put your mind at ease to have confirmation of diagnosis /treatment plan from a second provider.  Most physicians will help to arrange for this. Take care.

when/how can a dr. give more than the recommended amount of meds in the hospital? (it has happened to me and i was fine. it just struck me as odd.)

Off -label dosing: can be done by a physician who is familiar enough with the medication to understand potential strides or side effects that could come from going above the recommended 
FDA dosage.

baby temperature is 37.5 degree, she's 4 weeks old. when should i take her to hospital to be checked by dr?

Normal temperature: Fever in an infant is not achieved until they hit 38C . Any 4 wk old would be seen at this point for an evaluation.

i have a tampon stuck, string broke so cant get it out. is it best to go to dr's office, insta care or hospital? been in for 1-2 hours.

Either, but: The tampon cannot get lost in the vagina, if you are able to insert you fingers and feel the tampon, then you may be able to remove it with gentle traction.  If you cannot get it to come out, then call your doctor or go the an urgent care - the ED at a hospital will be able to remove it, but that may be quite expensive.

was suicidal. set a date to do it. feel better but that date is approaching. worried i may do something. don't want hospital. tell dr or not?

You are better: Just because you set a date earlier does not mean you are going to act on it now that you are feeling better. Yes, your doctor should me made aware.

Depends on hospital : That depends on the hospital. Most have moved to private rooms that create a more homelike feel. Your local hospital website may have pics available for you to see.

what would happen if i ran away from hospital?

Accepted Answer

AWOL : If u r committed to the hospital, under a detention order, being a danger to yourself or others, or unable to care for yourself due to mental illness, assuming u meant a psychiatric facility, then a warrant will be issued to bring u back.  If u r voluntarily in a hospital, not sure why u would elope in the first place.
