No clear answer: The usual recommendation is 3 of the common sort per day but anecdotally there are good results on higher doses. Remember it can cause paresthesias (nerve tingling) and is a photosensitizer.

The serotonin activities are thought to be the most important in in working with depression. Hyperforin also induces some cyp450 enzymes, leading to reduced concentrations of certain drugs.
