is bactrim effective for impetigo? what if impetigo is caused by strep, since bactrim doesn't cover that? i've been on doxy for 4 days and impetigo is still spreading, so doc switched me to bactrim. is this the right choice? are there bad side effect

Not for strep: Bactrim is a commonly used drug that is safe for people not allergic to it. Some can develop a sun exposure related transient rash. Bactrim is commonly used if the impetigo is thought to be from MRSA staph.

2 months ago i had ^ igm results for h.pylori, lyme & hsv + strep b. now after taking doxy & amox i still have strep, ^ igm but no igg. any ideas?

IgG: Elevated igm represents a recent or current infection. Igg provides long-term protection after exposure to an infectious agent.  It is unusual to have no igg present and thus you need to consult an allergist/immunologist to find out if you have an impaired immune status.

i got strep for 10years, puss on tonsils,now sinusitis.tried penicilin amoxicilin doxy clyndamicin,zithro.my ears, neck and sinuses hurt.what  to do?

See ENT: After all this treatment it sounds like you may have some abnormality in your sinus cavities or tonsils. I suggest that you see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist to see if they can determine the cause. Sometimes removal of the tonsils or repair of a deviated septum in the nose can stop these types of chronic problems.

im abroad seeing family, i have a sore throat no other symptoms. if i have strep throat what can i tell them i can/cant take? i am allergic to augmentin, sulfa, doxy, bactrim, and maybe penicillin. i think ive taken zpack before but not sure?

: If you are allergic to augmentin you are likely allergic to penicillin. Yes, you can take azithromycin or erythromycin. Cephalosporin  such as cephalexin (keflex) can be used too (chance of PCN cross allergy is less than 10%).

No to doxycycline: Group B strep is treated using penicillin or ampicillin sometimes plus an aminoglycoside agent.  Doxyccycline does not cover for group B  strep.
