went to the dentist and said i might havea abscess. he prescribe doxycycline and vicodin for pain i'm having. it's not helping. what else can do. help?

Have tooth treated: Antibiotics are prescribed in order to help shrink the abscess. It may take 24-48 hours to take effect.  If an abscess is present it needs to be drained, either through the gum or by opening up the tooth. The tooth would then need a root canal. The dentist should have made a follow up appt with you.  Medications are not magic they take some time to work.

dx staph infec/leg: bacitracin gel, 100 mg doxycycline caps, 10 days, +  injection, vicodin es/ pain. when will i feel relief & clear up? tx yesterday

If treatment : Is working then you should star feeling better within 48 hours. I assume that a culture was taken to determine that you have staph. Appropriate antibiotics should be given to treat infection.

Yes: Check out http://www.Drugs.Com/interactions-check.Php?Drug_list=940-0, 71-747. Ideally, your should always tell your prescribing doctor everything that you're taking, prescription or otherwise. Also, try to get all your prescription medications from one pharmacy so that pharmacist can also check for interactions. In other words, this question is best asked of your doctor & pharmacist.

i have a lipschutz ulcer. doc prescribed doxycycline, tylenol (acetaminophen) 3 and lidocaine jelly. it is excruciating. how long this will last? self care tips?

Need evaluation: Have  you had  any other mucous membrane ulcers  like mouth, lips, etc. Sometimes this can occur with a systemic  illness, one of which we call Behcets. It can heal in 4-6 hours.Your physician will evaluate you for this problem.

i have deep pimples inbetween my breasts for 3years. i have tried everything. i'm on vibramycin (doxycycline) now 2 weeks. no improvement.i have scars from picking.

Cleavage acne: Don't wear such a constructing bra, don't let your breast be pushed together. Allow air to get to the area. Also wash area after sweating. This should help. The scarring is another issue all together. Do not pick at area.

Probably not: Though it has been reported in long term use, it is very rare and another reason should be sought.

CDC recommendation: Women and men with chlamydia should be retested about three months after treatment of an initial infection, regardless of whether they believe that their sex partners were treated.

took a 15 day course vibramycin (doxycycline) for chlamydia. 1st day 2 100mg then 100mg\day. symptoms almost went away but returned after finishing. please advise ?

Get tested again!: The CDC recommends only re-testing after treatment in a few cases, one of those is if the symptoms have returned. However, if the DNA probe to test is done, you should wait for 3 weeks-5 weeks after finishing the antibiotic, or it will not be accurate. Regardless, repeat test in 3 months. Get partner(s) treated.
