i have cracks in my fingertips and feel my hands dry and tight all day, but i'm using hand cream often. no bleeding.could it be caused by the water?

Dry skin: Sounds funny to say, but water is very drying.  Try a mosturizer at bedtime and wear gloves to keep the salve on.

Eczema?: You might have exzema. Dry skin can look very similar.  Try high quality skin care such as arbonne skin care lotion and if not better see a dermatologist.

: Hydrogen peroxide is not bleach but prolonged exposure can bleach the skin. Excessive exposure is corrosive to skin. Breathing its vapors  is also irritating to the respiratory tract. I suspect your exposure was to the lesser strength of hydrogen peroxide. Cracking and thinning of your hand skin should heal in time. You could consult a dermatologist or a wound specialist for evaluation and advice.

my boyfriend is a 33 yr. old male. he has a serious problem with his right hand becoming dry, chapped, and they crack & start bleeding. 2yrs now.

See a dermatologist: He needs to be examined and because it is only his right hand, a determination made of how he is using that hand and what materials he may be in contact with.  This should be a remediable issue.  If there is something embedded in the hand (foreign body), having it taken out by a hand surgeon may help.

As long as onme keep: The hands clean and avoids having the lotion become occlusive, trapping dirt and debris in the wounds. Id wash hand in a mild soap first and dry then off well especially in colder climates. Dry hands could also be    an allergic reaction to many things, as well as a manifestation of skin or autoimmune or endocrine disorders so talk about it with your pcp. Avoid hand lotion with alcohols ouch!

There are many......: Onyx makes a good "cracked skin repair", 
O'keefe makes one.....
Sometimes the cracks etc are from excessive water (on hand) sometimes a skin condition might be present which you would want to know about as sometimes a steroid cream may be needed, also, I would consider oral fish oil supplements which have good skin lubricating properties...ever see a seal with bad skin?

Dry: It comes down to applying fragrance free moisturizers often during times of dry skin. Supplements and foods will not hydrate the skin as moisturizers will.

Keep hands dry: No excessive washing, bathing and luke warm is better than hot water.Steroid creams can help but may need dermatologists help if severe.
