May need antibiotics: You may have bacterial vaginosis, which can cause a foul odor. It requires treatment with antibiotics for clearance, sometimes boric acid suppositories are effective as well.

Vagisil: Vagisil does not treat the cause of vaginal itching and burning and can make the problem worse by chemical irritation of the vagina.There has been shown to be some increase in the frequency of vaginal yeast infections associated with the use of oral contraceptives. See your PCP or GYN to be sure what is causing the vaginal itching and burning and, if it is yeast, discuss your contraceptive options

Need a diagnosis: Since you are not responding to yeast medication then the cause may not be yeast. You need a proper diagnosis to find out what medication can relieve your symptoms. Our office is close to you and we would be happy to see you and help fix this problem.

Creamy discharge: Use vagsil to,treat your fungal infection but see your doctor to rule out a UTI as well

How bad is it?: If it is just a vulvar(outside) "burn" then hot sitz baths will alleviate the discomfort. If is vaginal (inside) then a MD needs to evaluate the area for possible Rx.

3 main causes: Vaginal itching or burning can be caused by yeast, trichamonas, and chemical irritation (soaps etc).  Initial treatment  is 1% Hydrocortisone cream for relief of symptoms.  If you have blisters or a discharge you should see your doctor.

i just used monistat 7 and it started burning so bad that i had to run and jump into the shower and wash it off of me. should i switch to vagisil?

See doctor: It sounds like you might be allergic to miconazole (the active ingredient in Monistat), or other ingredients. Or maybe it isn't a yeast infection -- for example if you have open sores due to herpes. Either way, best to recheck with the doctor treating you to confirm the diagnosis and perhaps prescribe different treatment. Don't use Vagisil unless your doctor advises it. Good luck!
