: Have this person see a dentist for an exam. The teeth are probably out of alignment as well as some missing, causing this noise. A normal bite will not cause these symptoms. Also ill fitting dentures will cause the clicking noise, a complete dental exam and possible new or a initial denture is indicated. Smoking or non smoking have nothing to do with  this habit.
