19y/o, female, virgin, single.i have an ovarian cyst.2010-present.my cyst are twins and the other one is dermoid cyst. is operation necessary?

Recommend surgery: Ovarian cystectomy (cyst removal) is suggested in order to make a definitive diagnosis, preserve ovarian tissue, and avoid potential problems such as torsion, rupture, or development of malignant components (cancer), which can happen in about 1% of cases.

brown discharge when i wipe - i was just told from my doctor that i have a ovarian cyst, i didnt have the discharge when i seen him and now i do. i also had an ultrasound but the one that goes on the inside... could this have anything to do with it? i am

Probably related: Brown discharge is often due to a little bit of dried blood.  If an ovarian cyst becomes large it can rupture and cause a leakage of blood or other fluid.  A vaginal ultrasound can potentially cause a very small of amount of bleeding could also be the cause of the discharge.  It could be related to one or both, and is not a cause for concern.

can an underactive thyroid and an ovarian cyst(10cm)have anything to do with each other, also period 1 week late, could either of these be causing this?

Yes: Underactive and untreated hypothyroidism can cause late or delayed menstrual cycles.  The thyroid has no relationship, however, to the formation of an ovarian cyst.  Your cyst, at 10cm, is at risk of rupturing or turning on itself, called torsion.  Have you spoken to a doctor about having the cyst drained or removed?  No roller coasters, i've seen patients with big cysts get torsion from a coaster.

: No, that would be exceedingly unusual. By definition, a cyst is filled with fluid and a simple cyst has no features that make it suspicious. Cysts come and go normally with your cycles and typically represent eggs at some stage towards ovulation. If a simple cyst persists over several cycles, continues to grow, or becomes symptomatic , it might need further management but cancer is still unlikely.

: I can't think of a medical reason that drinking socially would have any effect on or be worrisome for someone with this condition.

will strilisation help with ovarian cysts?

Accepted Answer

No: Ovarian cysts are a result of hormones-estrogen and progesterone. Sterilization only affects the Falopian tubes so that the egg can"t be fertilized  with the male sperm. Cysts can be drained if large enough and usually small cysts are a normal finding.

No: No, there is no specific or even general odor to any kind of ovarian cyst.

is a 6 cm simple ovarian cyst something to worry about? 25. my said its benign filled with fluid. she said it will go away on its own. it causes me pain though. should i get a second opinion? i read online this is too big for a simple cyst?

: If your (GYN) physician has seen the imaging study and the cyst is a simple one (without complex echogenic structure within) the 6 cm cyst will eventually resolve spontaneously, and may take a followup imaging study if the pain persists. With a less than 10 cm cyst with no internal echo structure, a biopsy is not yet indicated.

Abortion: If your cyst is not producing any symptoms, a termination of pregnancy can usually be done. Most cyts in pregnancy are benign and self-limited.

Cyst in pregnancy: Yes it is safe to get pregnant with an ovarian cyst. Generally, they shrink in pregnancy. 
Some will persist. Ultrasound will help distinguish cysts that should be closely watched in pregnancy.
