No.  Nyquil is: FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether dextromethorphan and doxylamine will harm an unborn baby. Do not use this medicine without a doctor's advice if you are pregnant.  Please consult your OB Gyn   for what is safe to take.

Not  best...: May need a nasal spray, humidifier....to get relief.

: If that Nyquil product contains dextromethorphan, it is considered a threat to cause the dangerous serotonin syndrome when combined with Effexor. Just use honey for your cough to be safe or check with your prescribing MD or pharmacist to validate this advice.

Nasal congestion: Use saline nose drops several times a day. Use the vaporizer at night while sleeping on several pillows. Drink lots if fluids Tea with lemon or honey can also help

: Yes it ts safe to take NyQuil.  Be sure to hydrate yourself with water.  It should assist in your improvement

Yes: However you are not like to reduce your nasal congestion from these medications.  If this is from a cold, an OTC decongestant spray for no more than 5 days may be helpful.  If this is from an allergy , try a nasal steroid.  If problem persists, will need to consider the presence of a sinus infection and you will need to see your doctor to get examined.

dear health tap, i have pretty severe congestion and my uvula is super swollen. can i take an antihistamine (claritin or benedryl) and also take nyquil so i can get some sleep tonight? thanks so much, in desperate need of advice?

: The NyQuil already has Benadryl in it-that is the ingredient that makes you sleepy after you take it. So, do not take any additional antihistamine with the NyQuil. Are you breathing ok? If you are short of breath, go to the nearest ER to get evaluated. What is causing the congestion? If you don’t know why you are congested, you need a diagnosis and treatment so see a doctor. if i took my rx of adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) @3pm & its 11pm now is it safe to take nyquil. i can't sleep due to my chest congestion &  coughing  i've been up 40hr now?

No, there are drug: interactions between the components of the various Nyquil products &amp; Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine). Also, some of the components dry &amp; thicken secretions &amp; suppress cough, leading to greater risk of pneumonia. See your doctor in AM or go to a hospital ER now if you have wheezing or shortness of breath.
