Not sure what you: Are really asking.  People on Methadone can and do abuse other drugs, including opiates, but they need much higher doses to get "high, " and this tends to reduce their desire to do so. However, they can still get effects from alcohol, sedatives, stimulants etc. This is why programs include counseling to change the way you live, and treatment for other underlying psychiatric problems, esp. Trauma.

Depends....: Methadone is approved for the treatment of opioid drugs like some pain medications and heroin. It is not approved for treating other drug dependencies .
It can reduce cravings for other drugs. It is an opioid drug and you can get dependent on it. Withdrawal symptoms can be very unpleasant and many patients become physically and mentally dependent on it.

A few things might: Work to help. One is to evaluate whether you still need to be on the dose of Methadone that you are.  If you have been stable for a while, you should consider some modest dose reductions. Weight gain is dose-related with opiates, including methadone. Losing weight on Methadone is no different than losing weight without it - diet ; exercise, but you may need fewer calories ; more exercise than most.

DO NOT TRY!!!!: Firstly, methadone is a class II prescription opioid, the class for drugs which are the most dangerous. For people who are not tolerant to opioids, relatively small amounts can cause overdose, or at least severe sedation that can cause car crashes and other problems. At 43, I would hope that experimenting with getting "high" would have become old by now. You are taking excessive risks - get help.

Don't do it: Why not get high on life instead? I've autopsied a few folks who've died from experimenting with friends' methadone. The dose he tolerates might kill you very dead on the first try. Truth be told, I'd encourage you to find friends who aren't addicts. This is a dead-end road in a world that offers many opportunities for things that are much less dangerous and more fun.

Quite possibly: Yes- your memory loss may be related to your chronic Methadone use.

Not going to answer: It is not the job of a physician to help people hurt themselves, or at least not suggest that they be helping themselves instead.  Methadone is not meant to cause a "high."  It is meant to treat pain and otherwise leave people feeling normal. If you want to get high on it, you are abusing it.  Any physician, no less an addiction medicine doctor, would be unethical to give you advice. Get help.

fianc tried getting clean now on methadone and sniffing his lorazapan to get high what can i do!? he sleeps so deeply alot. should i be concerned?

Worry: Benzodiazepines like lorazepam are not recommended with methadone due to the risk of CNS depression and respiratory failure (you stop breathing)  If he is snorting his lorazepam he is not taking his recovery serious as he is abusing his medication to make it work quicker and get him somewhat high.  You need to confront him or possibly notify his provider of his actions.  You obviously care!
