Weight lifting: Stress on an open bone growth plate can damage the growth plate and cause premature closure (bone stops growing).  If your growth plates are still open, your skeleton is not fully matured and you should lift weights in moderation.

The aap and certified trainer groups recommend no power lifting until the final stage of physical maturity which is when you reach your final height.Training in proper   lifting under supervision of a certified trainer is fine.

Not that I know of: My family and I have been lifting weights since about 11 years old and all of us are at least 5-11 or more as adults. Do not know of any studies that suggest that weight lifting stunts growth. If you have any doubts, consult with your physician. Before starting, you should get medical clearance from the appropriate health professional as a precaution.

Go for it: no way to know what your 'maximum' height will be most males growth plates have already closed by then. go ahead and lift whatever you want.
