No : Lexapro (escitalopram) doesn't affect bp. In rare instances, it can be associated with the serotonin syndrome which can cause rapid heart beat associated with agitation and twitching (neuromuscular irritability/hyperreflexia).

Unlikely: Lexapro (escitalopram) is not considered a cause of high blood pressure. Perhaps lowering the dose may have caused increased depression/anxiety leading to higher blood pressure, but I doubt it. You should monitor your blood pressure with your PCP if it remains high.

: One of the known side effects of Lexapro is elevated blood pressure. It typically occurs several days after first starting the medication or after a dose increase. If you have not recently done either of these, it may be unrelated. Talk to your prescribing Dr for further instructions. Lexapro does not typically cause rashes.

Lexapro (escitalopram): In premarketing studies, hypertension was reported as a possible cardiovascular effect with lexapro (escitalopram). The incidence was unspecified. They did not explain whether this was temporary or not, but it has not been a common side effect in postmarketing studies.  Anxiety can increase your bp.

Avoid the DUI: Moderate consumption of alcohol probably won't affect the meds you take, especially when they are not taken at the time of drinking. 1-2 drink/day may actually be good for your health, depending what type you are drinking. Excess alcohol/dui can kill with or without use of medication. So, drink responsibly. Drink for good health. Drink to make good friends. Avoid the dui. Good luck.

Healthy BP: A BP of 114/66 is healthy. If you were on multiple medications with the purpose of 'treating' or controlling your blood pressure then you could possible decrease the dosage a little as treating to less than 130mm hg usually is not helpful for simple hypertension. However, if you're not taking any medications for blood pressure control, then congratulations you have a healthy blood pressure.

i have anxiety. zoloft made me dizzy and gave me low blood pressure 90/65. would lexipro likely give me less side effects? any advice what to ask my doctor for?

Anxiety: I am not a fan of SSRI medications for anxiety. I would first try taking the supplement L-theanine 100-200 mg twice daily. If sleep is an issue, at 5-htp 150 mg at bedtime. Also, avoid sugar and highly processed food as they can feed anxiety in many people.
