No: Levothyroxine is best taken in the morning on an empty stomach for maximal absorption.  Aleve is an over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug containing naproxen, which is best taken with food to avoid gastric irritation.  Since both are metablize by different pathway, there is no significant interaction.  However, to have maximal therapeutic effects, timing of medicines should be done.

19 yo cousin takes these: naproxen, levothyroxine, gabapentin, propanolol, &  allegra (fexofenadine). she is considering taking st. john's wart as well. is this safe?

Appears safe: Thre are some relative interactions of two of the drugs already being taken.  Naproxen may increase the blood levels of gabapentin.  Some caution advised with the use of Naproxen with Propranolol (may decrease the effectiveness of propranolol) but no known probem of st. Johns wort with any of the medications.  As wilth all medicatons check first with your pcp, specialist physician or pharmacist.

Small amounts : Of topical drugs can be absorbed in the systemic circulation. The larger the skin area on which they are used and the quantity applied may result in higher systemic concentration and possibly adding to systemic toxicity.

i'm having pelvic pain, urinary frequency and urgency and no uti, what could it be?  not diabetic, have low k and thyroid taking naprosyn, k and synthroid (thyroxine)

It sounds like: A UTI so i would treat it despite the testing.  Are u menopausal yet? Sometimes vaginal dryness may contribute.  Consider seeing a urologist for cystoscope.  In the case of recurrent discomfort without tissue diagnosis i recommend the antidepressant cymbalta (duloxetine). It helps decrease ascending pain signals as in arthritis 2 help get better grip on the problem. It's miserable.

No: There is no interaction.  Phosphatidylserine is synthesized by every cell of the body and is an important membrane lipid.  I doubt that there is any evidence that eating more will be of any benefit, but it will not interfere with your thyroid medication.

None listed as signi: none listed as significant. However, i see different reactions with drugs for different people but there does not seem to be any reactions with these three used together.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Calcium, vitamins and iron should not be taken within 2 hours (before or after) brand name thyroid replacement as they can interfere with it's absorption. Bile salt resins (not used much anymore) can also interfere with thyroid and almost all other meds.

does flutamide ( antiandrogen) interact with synthroid (thyroxine)?

Accepted Answer

No it doesn't: But your medication list notes both synthroid (with is a quality brand-name levothyroxine) as well as levothyroxine. Hopefully, you're not taking both. The brand name synthroid is the better product of the two.
