Rash: It sounds more likely that it is an allergic reaction to something.  The fact that it is not on the palms and soles of your feet makes other bad things less likely.  Skin rashes are hard to diagnose and the diagnosis depends on where the rash is, the color, whether there are blotches, raised bumps and many other things.  You can buy benadryl (diphenhydramine) in the pharmacy for itching and if it persists see DR.

HIV unlikely: To have HIV transmission there must be fluid transfer from one person to the next.  If you had safe sex HIV would be very unlikely.  Swollen lymph nodes can be seen in a large number of viral illnesses as well as with bacterial infections.  See you doctor.

Not necessarily: The sings and symptoms of HIV vary a lot between people. The only way to know is to get tested. Do not put off getting tested, as treatments now are quite effective in controlling the disease.

For sure not HIV: First, "all ARS symptoms" is meaningless. Innumerable medical conditions have identical symptoms as ARS, most of them minor and not worrisome. Second, the HIV tests are far more reliable than symptoms in determining whether or not someone has HIV. Your tests are valid for all HIV types, including N and P, and prove your symptoms are due to something other than ARS. Believe it and move on. Gd luck!

i think i have a mild fever and experience pain in my shoulder/back. recently had safe sex with a guy who said he was negative. my lymph nodes don't seem to be swollen or tender, but my back itches sometimes.worried it might be hiv ars?

Safest to be tested: Your symptoms do not suggest ARS and people rarely lie about HIV when asked directly, so probably your partner isn't infected. And safe sex is effective if done properly (condoms for anal sex between men, oral sex very low risk even without condoms, etc). But all men who have sex with men should be tested for HIV and STDs from time to time. Since it's on your mind, probably this is a good time.

For sure not HIV: The 4th generation HIV blood tests are among the most accurate tests ever developed, for any infection. Negative results more than 4 weeks after the last possible exposure are 100% proof against HIV infection. Therefore, test results always overrule exposure history and symtplms. "2 mild swollen nodes" is not consistent with HIV -- but even if it was, your test results prove HIV isn't the cause.

: The test result is far more accurate than symptoms in judging possible HIV infection, and anyway ARS never causes only a single node to be enlarged or inflamed. And it sounds like you probably do not have an abnormal node anyway:  this is too subtle to be significant or important. Self examination of lymph nodes is never a good idea and always unreliable. Stop trying and believe your test result.

Lymph nodes filter: Lymph nodes filter out infections and will be swollen and or tender.  Cancer is also filtered by the lymph nodes and is usually painless.  Get an HIV test done to confirm HIV or not.

Neck Lymph Node: Lymph nodes generally enlarge in reaction to an inflammatory response, such as an infection. General system infections would be expected to generate a diffuse lympadenopathy, not so specific and they are often tender. Your asymmetric neck nodes, may be due to infection; however, in your age group we also worry about Lymphomas. You should have a through exam and may require excisional biopsy.
