Try mist: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is an expectorant - it helps loosen chest congestion, but in my opinion will not help your sinuses.
Inhaled warm mist would be helpful as would a nettie pot and sinus rinse.

Mouth-breathing.: Since Mucinex (guaifenesin) dm does nothing on the nasal congestion, your dry mouth is likely from mouth-breathing.    Try a nasal decongestant and see if this may help (mucinex (guaifenesin) d?) . If not, see your doctor to make sure that you don't have a sinus infection.

Go see an ENT: There are so many causes of nasal congestion that 400 characters can't possibly cover this topic. Go see a specialist.  The keys finding out what is causing your congestion: deviated septum, allergies, sinusitis, nasal polyps, rhinitis.  The list goes on.... Someone needs to take a good history and then actually look inside your nasal cavity. That's what we do every day.  Good luck.

Go see your primary care health provider to discuss what's best for you.

In patients who have narrow anterior chamber angles (which would be diagnosed by an ophthalmologist), taking medications to treat a sinus infection could lead to an angle closure glaucoma attack.  If you have narrow angles, you should avoid decongestants and anti-histamines until you are told by your ophthalmologist that it's ok to use them.
