Need reason: First the cause of the gastritis must be determined. Then a treatment can be decided upon. Second, one must not be drinking alcohol until the gastritis is resolved!

Not necessarily bad: Gasx is simethicone, which works on gas.  Not necessarily bad. However, if you have gastritis, you probably need to deal with the acidity as well. Acid buffers or blockers would help the gastritis greatly.  Buffers such as antacids like maalox, mylanta, tums, etc work well. Acid blockers like zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid (histamine blockers) or prilosec/ Prevacid (proton pump inhibitors) are very effective.

i have a low ferritin and normal hemoglobin. also i have gastritis and can't take iron. how can i raise ferritin level?

Intravenous iron: Iron can be administered intravenously and sufficient amount can be given in one sitting to correct any iron deficiency. You would need to consult your doctor for the need and advisability of this treatment.

i was diagnosed with mild gastritis a few years ago and haven't had any symptoms until now. i am also dizzy constantly, and feel unwell is this related?

Maybe: The symptoms of dizziness might be important if you are having dark stools. It might be a sign of bleeding from your stomach or colon. Certainly would see a doctor for evaluation and a complete blood count.

i have been taking gastrimut and nexium (esomeprazole) for 2 years now and can't seem to cure my gastritis. i still have pain whenever i eat or drink something wrong?

H pylori: Rule out infection with h pylori first. Then if you r obese lose weight. If you eat junk food or soda-STOP. If you eat at erratic times then stop.eat an early dinner by 6-6:30 daily. Avoid alcohol except for social occasions.NO STRESS!!! And one more thing-do not any water or fluids with food at least for 90 min, then you drink as much as you want. Follow this for a month to see the benefits

GYN consult: asap and do a home pregnancy test. You will need female and thyroid hormone studies and a pelvic exam.

my last upper scope, showed mild chronic inactive gastritis. is there a way to resolve this so it isn't a chronic condition? if it is inactive is it still damaging? is there a cancer risk?

Inactive means . . .: Inactive means that it does not require any further treatment (think of it as scar, after you cut your skin. Once you've treated the cut, the scar may remain, but requires no additional attention). The best thing that anyone can do to reduce their cancer risk is to not smoke and minimize alcohol. Since you had gastritis, I would also try to avoid aspirin based products (includes advil/alleve)

Change your : Diet and ask your doctor about sucralafate. That might help. Also, avoid nsaids.
