i have been given a 6 month course of fluconazole. how soon can i be having sex again and should i use protection? i have a contraceptive implant.

Ask your doctor: I can think of only one situation that would require &quot;a 6 month course&quot; of fluconazle (Diflucan):  once a week to prevent recurrent vaginal yeast infection (thrush). If so, you can have sex any time you wish, as long as you&#x27;re not having uncomfortable symptoms at the time. But you should check with the clinic or doctor who prescribed it and follow his or her advice.

have a yeast and infection and im taking fluconazole. took one pill didnt work as much on second pill now. is it not all to have to take both pills 150mg? im on day 5 of the pills. please help do i need to go back to the dr or just give it time?

: If your symptoms haven't cleared within a week after the second dose, discuss alternate treatments with your doctor. Up to 10% of vaginal yeast infections are caused by Candida strains resistant to fluconazole and other "azole" drugs. Good luck.

Terazol (terconazole): Insert terazol (terconazole) 3, suppository or cream every night for 3 nights. Repeat the same 2 weeks later.

Yeast: Yeast infections don't usually cause a significant odor. May want to see physician to insure that the culprit is clarified first. Take care.

i have jock itch and i've been taking fluconazole for i took one dose of 150 mg two days ago i'm supposed to take one a week but it doesn't work if i wait too long before i can take it again it just comes back so can i take a second dose?

: Oral anti-yeast drugs often do not work well and usually are not recommended for tinea cruris (jock itch). You need an antifungal cream or ointment. Several effective products are available over the counter; look in the same pharmacy shelves with tinea pedis (athletes foot) medications, or ask the pharmacist for assistance.

Yeast Infection: If you're still experiencing symptoms, I would recommend checking with your doctor, there are many alternative anti fungal agents that can be tried if Diflucan (fluconazole) was ineffective in treating your infection.

Why?: All medications have potential for side effects? So why take a medication without an indication?  Were you prescribed Diflucan (fluconazole) because you were about to start an antibiotic?

See Answer: Not all vaginal itching is caused from a yeast infection.  You should see your doctor to do a vaginal exam and maybe culture.
