Ultrasound: You will have blood drawn (pregnancy hormone test) and a vaginal ultrasound.  If nothing is seen in the uterus and a mass is seen in the tube, an ectopic might be present.  Sometimes the pregnancy test is so low nothing can be seen and these tests need repeated in a few days or a week.  Ectopics can often be treated with medication now, not always needing surgery. Typically they are tubal.

Ectopic pregnancies can be treated without surgery if found early enough, but can be life-threatening otherwise.
