See below : I am not really sure what you mean by alcohol reducing metabolism.  It clearly reduces intestinal motion and function in certain parts of the brain.  Its overall effect on metabolic rate is not much.  Marijuana also reduces function in certain areas of the brain but has little impact on metabolic rate.

Yes, but: A lot depends on how much alcohol you intend to drink.  Alcohol is direct toxin and slows down white cells, so in large amounts, yes, it is not good for wound healing.

The fast heart rate: probably occurs as a physiological response to the vasodilatation caused by the alcohol. It should slow down naturally as the alcohol metabolizes out of your system. You could try hydrating significantly before drinking or drinking less alcohol.

What kind infection?: Taking a lot of Azithromycin at one time sounds like treatment for a sexually transmitted illness.  I wonder whether drinking was part of what put you into the position of having unsafe sex, if that is what happened. If not, I am still concerned when someone asks how soon they can drink after medication X or surgery Y, as to whether there is an alcohol problem. There are drug interactions as well.

: They tried that ....called prohibition...led to the growth of organized crime. If drinking toxic substances is your thing do so in moderation. People are free to do all sorts of things that are self destructive. When you do so to the detriment others (drive drunk) they can toss you under the jail for vehicular homicide. Most do not go that far, but a lot kill off their livers.

Lots of empty: Sugar calories. If you were dieting would you eat lots of twinkies, ho ho's, ice cream & cake? It wouldn't be a very succesfull diet if you did. The same goes for alcohol.
