Yes and no: Clomid (clomiphene) is very effective at helping women with irregular cycles get pregnant. Unfortunately, the success rates are very low in  46 year olds regardless of the treatment unless you are receiving eggs from a donor.

Why are u irregular?: If your periods are irregular we need to find out why before recommending treatment - it could be one or more of: low egg supply (diminished ovarian reserve), pcos, thyroid or prolactin hormone problems, or low hormone levels. There are many treatments other than Clomid (clomiphene) depending on the cause of your irregular cycles. If you're 46 low egg supply is very likely an issue. See a rei specialist 4 help.

started clomid on the 10th of feb till the 14th of feb not sure if i ovulated as i did not test i took a pregnancy test on the 6th of march it was positive could this mean im pregnant or its a false positive i have pcos and irregular periods ?

Tests are accurate: Today's home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by PCOS, but if done too early, a negative result may be due to testing too soon. A correctly done urine test will give a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period.

Fertility ?'s: Clomid (clomiphene citrate) will usually induce ovulation , but first contact your gyn physician to learn about ovulation induction and alternatives such as testing for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or other causes of "irregular periods".

Too soon: You do not state how long you have been trying, whether you were on birth control before (and for how long).  At least a year without conceiving and no other treatable causes for the failure to do so is necessary before any diagnosis of infertility can be made.  Get a check up and talk to your doc  Kids are very expensive.  Be in a good place job-wise, relationship-wise before conceiving.

Not yet: It can take several months for your periods to regulate after you stop the depo-provera shot. See your doctor if your periods haven't resumed 6 months after stopping the shot.

Not clomid (clomiphene): If you have irregular periods, metformin may help. But we don't prescribe Clomid (clomiphene) unless someone is trying to conceive. There are risks to taking fertility meds for many months.  If you are trying to avoid pregnancy then you may want to consider a combination of metformin and a birth control pill. If you are specifically trying to avoid birth control pills, then you may consider an iud or condoms.

Clomid (clomiphene): You may not yet be on the correct dose of clomid (clomiphene).  Hopefully you're doing some ovulation prediction kits to see if ovulating.  Clomid (clomiphene) users may need anywhere from 50mg a day during the dosing time to 250mg, though once you get up near 150mg or higher it usually means you need to move to injectible fertility meds.
