Chantix (bupropion): you need to ask your anaesthesiologist/ prescriber whether you have to hold the medication prior to adminstring GA, as several different  anaesthetics can be used  and may interact with chantix, moreover, if you have to hold it you can't just stop taking it, it has to be monitored with gradual tapering or replaced by another antidepressant till stopped, wish you well

Not that I know of: it acts on nicotine subreceptors (alpha2beta4 as I remember), and does not release histamine.  I see you have a mast cell disorder, so you should be running this by the allerist/immunologist or rheumatologist you are seeing for that condition.

A few: The most common side effects are nausea and vivid dreams.  There is data that Chantix can cause irrational thoughts, possibly increasing the risk of suicide, but I have not seen this clinically. The medicine blocks nicotine receptors in the brain.  Years of exposure to the chemicals in tobacco smoke, then blocking those chemical receptors, can cause many side effects, depending on the patient.

Maybe: Chantix can increase your chances of success in quitting nicotine. Some people get depressed with Chantix, so you should watch for changes in mood. Apparently, this only occurs rarely. Talk with your doctor.

Common side effect: Nicotine receptors are widespread in the brain, and Chantix acts on several of these receptors.  Nightmares or vivid dreams do not occur in everyone, but they are very common. More serious side effects, such as worsening depression with suicidal thoughts can also occur, but are not common.  If side effects would cause you to stop the medication, please talk to your doctor about alternatives.
