receiving paclitaxel and herceptin. after 5th cycle, developed 30 small pimples or water bumps on my scalp, which feels like sunburn, though i've not been in the sun, and itches. is this a normal side effect? can i use calamine lotion on them?

Blisters: Medications can trigger tiny blisters in the skin related to virus which has been quiet in your body.  Please call your oncologist to have them looked at.  Meanwhile, calamine lotion may be soothing and unlikely to harm.

so eveytime i scratch myself i break out in really bad hives. and than i can't stop itching until i take calamine lotion. it actually leaves purple?

Dermographism: This is a subtype of the chronic physical  urticarias.  Treatment is generally non sedating histamine blockers in addition to avoiding scratching and triggers of skin scratching.

i have anal itching. today i bought walgreens calahist medicated calamine lotion, but it says external use only. can i use it on my anus?

No: Directions for caladryl indicate not for anal use. Preparation h or anusol would be a better option.

Ring worm: Tinea corporis (ring worm) is a fungal infection, and there are several over the counter medications/creams that my help.  Calamine lotion is drying and may help with an itch, but with the OTC creams as stated, they should suffice to treat the area.  Best wishes.

Yes: As do steariod creams otc of 1% or it may be .1%. I always keep some on hand. Works fast and no color or staining, easy and safe to use if ur sure there is no infection.

Get the diagnosis: There are many types and causes of skin rashes.  Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Could be : Hypersensitivity in one of the nerves but sounds like shingles. Depends on how long it has been going on. Could also be a pinched nerve in your neck or shoulder.  Difficult to know without more details and or an exam.

Stepwise to keloids: The approach to keloids is nearly the same no matter where they occur: pressure, silicone sheeting, steroid injections, posssible 5 fu injections, possible intralesional excision, possible radiation therapy as well emerging or investigational immunotherapy treatments.

Try: You can try it, but most topicals don't help and taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or atarax may work better. It does coat the area so you are less likely to touch/scratch it. All the best.
