can drinking too much caffeine cause dizziness when laying down because i feel that every-time i lay down? also can it peak acid reflux because my acid reflux is really bad right now so wondering if that has a correlation with that? thank you?

Accepted Answer

: I couldn't blame caffeine for dizziness occurring upon lying down, but it is a known cause of acid reflux as is alcohol,chocolate, spicy and oily foods.

if my acid reflux gets better, do you think it would be ok to drink some caffeine and alcohol?

Accepted Answer

Yes but it'll return: Caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods, chocolate, among other things can flareup acid reflux.   If you feel better, then feel free to drink what you choose, but keep in mind that your reflux will most likely return.

when i take caffeine my acid reflux kicks in and i gag a lot because of it . is there a way to continue caffeine intake but avoid gagging ?

Accepted Answer

Caffeine: sensitivity is just that...a sensitivity and it's unlikely any other preparation will avoid that. If COFFEE is your main "vehicle" for the caffeine try TEA.

i've been instructed to skip caffeine (coffee) due to acid reflux. is it the acidity or actually the caffeine? could black tea be a substitute?

DGL is used to: help with acid reflux and is safe.  If you take licorice that is not DGL, over time it can raise your blood pressure.  Please consult w/your doc.  Peace and good health.  Acid is the issue.  Please do what your doc says but tea may be a good substitute.

i have acid reflux and i found a herbal hibiscus caffeine free mango tea made by lipton(unsweetened) also extra no sugar added. can i try that? i'm getting tired of drinking water. thanks?

: Only by trying can you tell. Go to uptodate.com and read about GERD.  I recommend all with this put 4 or 8 inch blocks under the head feet of your bed. Gravity never sleeps. And if your BMI is greater than 25 getting it lower may help as well. Again gravity never sleep and fat pushing on your belly when you sleep can aggravate gastric reflux. Keep reflux diary.  Discuss with Dr.

i have gerd, and currently taking doxycycline heclate 100mgxday. my heartburn is even worse right now, while taking dexilant. i feel short of breathe, which is a ket symptom for me when acid reflux is a problem. does doxy cause acid reflux?

: Doxy can directly irritate the esophagus, cause inflammation or even ulcerate the esophagus. It can cause heartburn and upset stomach. Try taking it with a full glass.of water after taking a liquid antacid recommended by your pharmacist and/or just after a meal.

Sure, anything can: Gerd is common--present in about 70 million americans. As such, there are easy solutions if you have just symptoms. If however you have inflammation due to gerd, this can be progressive &amp; needs to be controlled. Start with behavior &amp; diet changes (see prior healthtap answers), add acid-blocker medications (either h2-blockers or ppi's). Get evaluated, especially if atypical, chronic &amp;/or worsening.
