Suboxone: No it is not drive from opium , opium is a natural occurring plant that produces , among other things, heroin. Suboxone is a purely manufactured synthetic drug. It has a unique  properties. It blocks certain opiate receptors and acts as a analgesic or pain medicine. It was first developed as a pain medicine but it's now used exclusively to stabilize people addicted to opiates.

Accepted Answer

Probably not: If you are taking prescribed  buprenorphine, you may fall under the protection of the  americans with disabilities act.  If so, you are entitled to accommodations for your disability if our employer has more than 50 employees and meets other criteria.  Get  your doctors note  doctor that the Buprenorphine is  prescribed and you and the medication are under medical supervision. Then take the test.

does suboxone contain iodine that will affect my thuroid test and scan?

No: The active ingredient is: Buprenorphine (bupe), which is an opiate. Suboxone contains bupe plus a blocker called naloxone. Subutex contains only bupe. Neither forms contain iodine. I guess i wonder why you would not discuss this with the dr who ordered the test, unless you're taking it without a prescription? If so, you really should find a bupe provider. It's a felony to have it without a rx.

Suboxone: Difficult to estimate metabolism of any drug, as it varies from person to person.

i failed a on site suboxone test they sent it iut to lab is it possible the lab test could come out negative i took 2mg 7 days prior ?

Accepted Answer

Yes: even though the half life is from 24-36 hours 2mg may not show up after 7 days.  Another factor is how much and how often it was taken before the last dose.

how long does it take for suboxone to test positive in urine after taking it. say i take suboxone at 1pm will it be in my urine by 2pm?

Accepted Answer

Suboxone: Suboxone is rapid onset - so yes it will be seen in the urine. Probably the metabolite will not. This could be a problem especially if you only take the Suboxone just before your appointments. If the urine shows no metabolite then the conclusion is that you are selling the units and taking one or two just before the urine test.

i take a drug test weekly because i am on suboxone.   i come up positive for codeine every now and then.   i have not taken any other substance. help?

Accepted Answer

Codeine is an opiate: and therefore is tested for in many drug screens.  Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine, an opiod medication, and naloxone an opiod/narcotic reverser. Buprenorphine is metabolized differently from methadone, heroin, etc. and if you are ONLY taking suboxone, the opiate test should be negative. So I can't explain your results. Discuss with your suboxone provider:)

Accepted Answer

Maybe: It depends which tests are performed. Why don't you want to tell your doctor that you take suboxone? Being open and honest is really best. Is it possible you are receiving other opiates from the pain doctor for purposes of selling the drugs? If so, it's a felony.

Accepted Answer

Maybe: Suboxone will not show up on most standard opiate uds. Generally the screen has to be looking specifically for Buprenorphine for it to show up. My experiance with my patients and pre employment drug screens is they have not had issues if they are only taking suboxone.
