Breast pain: Due to hormonal changes at the time of ovulation, sometimes women can experience breast discomfort. Have in mind that Progesterone levels start increasing around this time as well, and Progesterone has an effect on breast tissue. Patients your age should always have a mammogram done and physical exam to rule out other more serious conditions.

Ovulation: Causes of breast pain can include cysts, prior surgery, trauma, medications (oral contraceptives, infertility tx, SSRI's), large breast size, premenstrual syndrome, ovulation, period &amp; pregnancy.  Mucus can be quite variable.

Check other symptoms: The breast discomfort from PMS, from ovulation, and from early pregnancy can all feel similar.  Check other parameters of your body to help decide which is which, such as cervical mucous consistency, timing of your cycle, over the counter ovulation kits, pregnancy tests, etc.

Not on depo: If you're on Depo-Provera (and by now you should have had your second shot) your body will not ovulate. (depo prevents ovulation.. Thats how it works).

Maybe: Breast tenderness in this situation is due to resumption of some normal functioning of your ovaries. It doesn't necessarily indicate ovulation however. And remember, you might become pregnant even before you see your first period after stopping depop shots. It would be safest to check this possibility out.

Not too common: Depoprovera contains only Progesterone. When breast tenderness is caused by hormones it  is usually caused by Estrogen. Depoprovera is effective after two weeks or even earlier if given during or after the menstrual cycle.

Lactation: Having breast milk after an abortion at twenty weeks is common and will stop as long as you don't stimulate your breasts. Wear a snugly fitting bra or top, take ibuprofen for pain, avoid pumping or expression, and avoid hot showers. Ovulation is possible despite breast milk production and so start contraception asap. Ovulation can happen within 3 weeks.

Pregnancy test: You may wish to do a home pregnancy test. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions carefully.
