Asthma may improve: Children are the most likely group to have asthma resolve especially if they don't have allergies or eczema.  The more severe the asthma, the less likely it is to resolve.  Asthma usually doesn't resolve in adults although it can  fluctuate in severity.  If the asthma is work-related, then avoiding the workplace may result in resolution.  Even this may take 1-2 years.

Hard to answer: Though quite often, childhood asthma appears to go away once you reach your teens, it may reappear in your adulthood. Too may variables to discuss here. Talk it over with your family physician.

Accepted Answer

Usually not: Asthma may go away during early childhood but having a positive allergy skin test makes such remission much less likely. For most people, asthma tends to linger although the severity or frequency may vary.  Having said that, although most studies have found asthma beyond age 7 to be a persistent problem, I have seen remission on a few &gt;10 yrs. The answer is unlikely but probably not impossible.

Yes AND NO: Often as children with asthma mature their attacks become less and less frequent to a point where they dont have any attacks. However even though there may saeem to be "no more asthma" it may resurface in adulthood.

Bad feelings...: ...Are the result of feeling defeated by asthma. Take proper care of yourself, get the upper hand over the asthma, and the feelings will reflect your mastery.

Yes and no: Though asthma is a chronic condition, symptoms can seem to go away and you are cured. However, it can come back under certain circumstances many years later . Talk it over with your physician.

Asthma is for life: You can bring the symptoms under good control and may never have symptoms again but the risk is always there.

Accepted Answer

No: You can't train away asthma. Some people with mild exercise-induced asthma continue to exercise when symptoms first appear. After a few minutes their symptoms resolve spontaneously. Most of us will not experience this. Instead asthma increases with prolonged exercise. Taking albuterol before exercise is the best 1st step. If not sufficient you may need a daily controller medication.

Mucolytics,hydration: Mucolytics like robatussin or Mucinex (guaifenesin) are helpful to a limited degree.Keeping well hydrated is also important. Avoiding products with drying antihistamines (most cough meds) is also important. There is a new self administered mist generating device that looks promising but I have not used it yet.

Asthma: It really never goes away, it just quiets down and yet it can come back.
