Yes.: A pulled or strained muscle can give you pain when you breathe because of the expansion of the rib cage, that puts a stress on those muscles.

Most likely.: Aleve (naproxen) or Ibuprofen to get rid of some discomfort + a Muscle relaxer. Gentle stretching exercises would be beneficial.
If not improving after 3-5 days then see your PCP.

Possibly: Initially, rest, moist heat, on possibly an anti inflmatory can help.  If it is not better within a few days, it may not be a simple pulled muscle and you may want to be seen.

I : I would recommend rest, hot shower and gently stretching your neck.  If you do not have any allergies or medical conditions prohibiting anti-inflammatory usage such as stomach ulcers, kidney disease, etc then 400 mg Ibuprofen every 6 hours for a couple days may help.  If you are uncertain if you can take anti-inflammatory medicine or the pain does not improve over the next few days you should contact your primary care doctor. Good luck!

my back hurts a lot and craks after vomotting, the next day it still hurts just as much in my lower back. could that be a pulled muscle? what can i do to improve the pain?

: This likely is musculoskeletal pain-a pulled muscle or strain/sprain is possible. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen may help as well as local ice or heat, whichever feels better. Resting your back to avoid further injury is also best, until it feels better. See your doctor if your pain worsens or doesn’t resolve in a few days. Best of luck!!

i have a sharp pain in my side toward the back that hurts every time i twist. other than that it does not hurt. i thought it was a pulled muscle but it has been two years now. what could it be?

: Lack of exercise.
Regular aerobic exercise of sufficient intensity and duration to raise core body temperature will strengthen muscles and make the muscles more flexible. It may take three months or longer to get the full benefit.

Rib and back pain : The best way to evaluate back and rib pain problems is to begin by speaking to a patient, do an excellent examination including a motion palpation examination.  Osteopathic physical medicine rehabilitation and doctors are especially well trained to do such examinations. A physical therapist or chiropractor may also help to understand and treat these conditions.

No: heart problem most likely muscle spasm. do u know heart pains are mostly at away from heart in midline, neck, throat L. arm or fatigue

Strain muscle: Probably you have a muscle strain-sprain however if you coughed very hard and you have soft bones(osteoporosis)the possibility of stress fx of the rib may be consider.without pain  I doubt it.
