Accepted Answer

Yes: Unfortunately, IV chemotherapy drugs used to treat acute leukemia always cause hair loss.  (the exception would be if you have CML and take oral chemotherapy only.)  the good news is that hair grows back!  hair loss is one of the hardest parts of cancer therapy for many patients, so don't feel alone.

Yes: It is easiest to say yes although treatments vary. Most leukemia therapies hit rapidly growing cells (ie cancer cells) but also affect normal fast growing cells like those in the GI tract, skin and hair follicles. The idea is to strike a balance that kills cancer cells but lets the normal cell recover. So, the hair will grow back, and unlike someone my age...It will grow rapidly.

Depends: On which chemo drugs you will be on.  Some cause hair loss, but not all of them do.

Hair: It does happen with some meds. Keep an eye on it and if it gets worse see your leukemia doctor for advice.

Accepted Answer

Depends: Treatments are different for different types of leukemia and for different subtypes of the same leukemia.  If she has all, it may be a few months, but then the hair may regrow later.  If it is another type, the treatment may be more severe, and the hair will fall out sooner.

Accepted Answer

In theory, yes: As per your description, you likely have condition known as hypogonadism.
Hormone replacement is generally helpfull in that cases. I however advise you to do for proper evaliation before starting hormone replacement. Any medication is double-side sword. It may help as mach as it may harm. I would not advise you to play with hormones on your own.

i would like to know if androgel 1.62 with make my penis grow and if it will make my testicles drop. i am a leukemia patient i have some public hair, ?

Accepted Answer

No: If you already went through puberty, testosterone won't make your penis grow.  The chemo you took can lower your t levels and sperm production but also you can recover both a couple years after treatment.  Androgel and all t replacement will make your sperm counts drop and often shrink your testes (usually reversibly).

my  son had a head x-ray, can he be at risk for leukemia later on ?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: There is no concrete data but some suggestion that xray may increase the risk of leukemia in children. This also depends on the body location, with chest xray seems more significant, and dental xray and head xray probably carry minimal risks.

i've had 5 ct scans over the past 5 yrs. 4 abdomen, 1 head.  has this increased my risk a lot for lymphoma or leukemia?  what if i need more?

Your total radiation: Dose is still quite low and the time frame is long.  That said, it is worth asking about the necessity of tests when additional scans are considered.

You : You have many symptoms and are worried since you don't know the cause. I urge you to get a good physical exam and basic blood work. A decision can then be made if you need additional testing. I cannot tie all your symptoms together but they do not sound like leukemia. Blood testing should answer that concern. Good luck.
