Kidney stone bleed: It is very common to have blood in the urine when a kidney stone is present.  This is usually an indication the stone is moving.  It is important though to realize even though you know you have a kidney stone, blood in the urine can occur for other reasons and further evaluation may be necessary.

No: You should not continue to have bleeding in the urine after passing a kidney stone.  It may take a short time for irritation to subside, however, if gross or microscopic bleeding continues (&gt;3 red blood cells per high power microscope field) then you will need further workup to check cause of bleeding.Urine.

Very variable: Can be as little as virtually none or so little that it can only be identified by microscopic examination all on extreme low side. Can be severe enough to to actually see pure blood &/or clots being passed in the urine.Mostly beeding is minor, varying from invisible to naked wye to mild pink dicoloration of urine. Amount of bleeding is no indication of size of stone or degree of blockage caused.

Cannot say: Drink a lot of water to facilitate the passage. You may wish to discuss with your doctor the option of extracting the stone through cystoscopic procedure.

my fianc just got surgery to remove his kidney stone yesterday and we were told that he would bleed a little because it is normal but he is bleeding profusely and i'm really scared an don't know what to do is this normal please help?

Post op bleeding: You should contact your urology surgeon regarding post op bleeding. Profusel bleeding can cause hypotenson and anemia if not treated.  Surgical site needs to be examined to be sure closing appropriately.

No: I can not think of any way that a kidney stone could result in rectal bleeding. They involve 2 separate organ symptoms. It's more likely you have something in your GI tract like gastritis or hemorrhoids. See your doctor.

Ureteral stents: Stents are plastic, foreign bodies, and cause irritation and inflammation in the bladder.  As long as you have a ureteral stent, you may experience intermittent flank pain, urinary frequency or urgency, burning urination, or blood in the urine.  Fever or severe vomiting is not to be expected, however, and should prompt you to call your urologist or go to the er.

See below: Usually a few days, but if you have a ureteral stent in place, you may see bleeding for as long as the stent is present.  Be sure to drink plenty of fluids to keep your system flushed out.

Kidney stones: Ask your doctor is you have any signs of hydronephrosis.  Hydornephrosis is caused by obstruction.  If you have this I'd suggest you get this stone taken care of.  If you don't have any signs of hydronephrosis there probably isn't any danger waiting a little longer to have this removed.  Ask your doctor.

Blood in urine: There are many causes of blood in the urine. Usually painful urination and be secondary to a urinary tract infection as well as kidney stones. If valuation usually begins with a urine specimen collection. Also can include imaging of the kidneys with a ultrasound or CAT scan. Depending on your other risk factors for cancer, such as smoking. Is urologic evaluation for cystoscopy maybe recommended.
