Anything goes: They can be high, low, or normal, depending on the type of cancer, current treatment, and the presence of infection or inflammation.

Yes it can on occasi: Advanced cancer can be associated with high white blood cell(wbc) count. It is called a para-neoplastic syndrome and is felt to be due to chemicals released from cancer cells which then stimulate production of wbcs.

Minimal: Cancer cells do not produce an increase in white cells seen with  inflammation.  There is a slight change in ability to turn on cytotoxic and antibody producing cells.  Where bacterial infections can boost the WBC's, cancers have a minimal reaction considered to help in surveillance.  The amt, of tumor protein for a response is about 1000ugm where tumors have about 25 ugm.

In most labs: The normal range for WBC is from 4-10.5.  No level is indicative of cancer in and of itself.

Sometimes.: There is no single test, or group of tests that can detect all cancers.  An abnormal CBC (complete blood count) can find signs of blood cancer (leukemia, usually).  A comprehensive chemistry cancer may show signs of cancer, but usually only advanced disease.  A few cancers can cause the white blood count to go up, but a high WBC is very non-specific.  High WBC is rarely because of cancer.

Immunity: An immunologist should be able to further investigate. Some immunologic disorders  are placing patients at higher risk for malignancies, not all.

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: A small polyp, with or without cancer would not materially affect your white cell count. Infection of the polyp, or if the poly is blocking the cervical canal, infection of the tissue behind the blockage is a more likely explanation for elevated WBC count.

Unlikely: White cells in the eye are typically just inflammatory cells and can be present in a number of conditions, such as iritis, or in the post-operative period from eye surgery. Rarely, white cells can indicate the presence of lymphoma in the eye. Other types of cancers in the eye tend to be seen as masses, rather than cells. An ophthalmologist should be able to identify the source of these cells.

they have found blood and white blood cells in my urine but nothing will grow in the lab could it be bladder cancer urineating  is very painful and very frequient. have already taken  7 rounds of antibotics

Bladder : Bladder cancer is not very high on my list of possible diagnoses. Has your doctor ruled out kidney stones? Cystitis(bladder inflammation). If you are female do you have any vaginal discharge? If you are a male have you had your prostate examined?.
Also your doctor should consider a ct urogram and cystogram to get a good visualization or your bladder and urinary tract. Also, antibiotics are probably not a good idea fo now.
Lastly please request a diabetes screen.
