Risks involved: The frequency of complications from untreated strep vary from kidney disease that usually shows up early <2wks, to nervous system disorders, heart disease or rheumatic fever that shows up later >4wks.The combined risk is estimated at about 1% per individual infection but varies regionally depending on the strain in the area. You have ~ 10 days from 1st sx to treat & abort the long term risk.

i have strep throat.  i dont have a bad case of it and no fever. do i have to get on meds to get better? how long will i be contagious with no meds?

Depends: There are some people who carry strep A year round and never get fever or throat pain. They are contagious year round, as is anyone who has it and remains untreated. If you did not have it confirmed with an office test or culture, your throat irritation could be viral &amp; will last as long as it chooses. You would be contagious with that too.

You can get strep: without a fever, however this doesn't sound like strep, which doesn't usually have blisters. This sounds like it could be Coxsackie virus, which is treated symptomatically, not with antibiotics. Please see your doctor to be properly diagnosed and treated.

Consider Ur options: Strep will often improve in a few days without treatment.Untreated strep, regardless of degree can produce rheumatic fever a month or so down the road & make the rest ur life miserable.(& cost a bunch) est.1/200 untreated strep are at risk; ~1/3 sore throats strep, ~1/600 the  risk you take by the numbers. There may be alternatives for seeking care than ur out of pocket, so look into it. Good luck.

Sore throat: Can still be due to a virus, rest, pain killers, warm fluids and salt water gargles till you see your doctor tomorrow, if really suffering, go to urgent care /ER, best wishes

my 5yr old son has extremely dry skin on his feet, its starting to really peel. he got a real high fever from strep throat, and that brought on a rash, that lead to the dry skin. wanting to know what i can get to help his dry feet

Often : Often times when a person has strep throat they develop a rash. This rash is caused by a toxin that's released by the strep bacteria. It sounds like that rash has subsided and has left behind the characteristic dry peeling skin. Don't worry this is the normal course for this type of rash and the peeling and dryness should subside completely after about 10 days or so. In the mean time keep his skin clean and moisturized. Try thick emollient creams, they usually come in a jar, or plain vaseline. Be patient; in time he will be completely back to normal.

Possible: Since you are not on antibiotics, your immune system has to do all the work.  If you have other infections going on, your body may be weaker allowing the infections to worsen.  However, even without the sore throat and joint aches, UTI will get worse over time.  Also, with your combination of symptoms, i would get checked out asap and get antibiotics.  All your symptoms may be from stds.
