A number of drugs!: Best and oldest: doxycycline. Others: zithromycin; ciprofloxin and related drugs. I would (if i were young & unmarried, suggest a course of one of the above to any potential sexual partner, since it is so common!

Understanding med: This one will cure it. It is different from many antibiotics in its mechanics. Others you take daily for a long while because it doesn't stay in your system long enough to work unless you take it every day and sometimes several times a day.This one is absorbed into your bodies fat cells and leaks into the blood slowly over a week or more.Taken all at once (1gm) it works fine.

: Being treated for chlamydia will have no impact on masturbation. I generally recommend a repeat culture two weeks after treatment to document it’s been cleared up before having unprotected sex

Seven days: The recommended treatment is twice daily for seven days.  If you only have 10 pills, take one tablet twice a day until gone.  You should also be checked for gonorrhea, HIV and syphilis, if you haven't been tested already, and you should notify anyone that you've had unprotected sex with that they should get tested also.

i got retested for chlamydia 35 days after treatment. did a urine test & a culture test both negative. am i cured? i had sex a week after treatment but i wouldve tested positive if i got reinfected correct?

21, f.  found out had chlamydia 4 yrs ago when preg. got cured, got mirena beginning of may 2009. got removed october 2011, found out had chlamydia again. both times from babys dad. had it for a while. now married and cured. will it be hard to ttc?

Depends on infection: Chlamydia infections can be asymptomatic, involve just the vagina, or may progress to upper tract (PID).  One medical report (http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/Supplement_2/S134.full) sites that about 20 % of women with two episodes of C will develop PID, and the same review found that about 16% of those with confirmed infection of the tubes had infertility or 84% did NOT!  Good luck.

Make sure: Usually the single dose is effective.  It is also critical that any & every sexual partner of yours gets treated as well, and that you do not have unprotected intercourse with someone with the infection until both parties are treated. There are longer courses of treatment, usually a week of Doxycycline twice a day is very effective as well.

Here are some ...: The recommended course for doxycycline is 100 mg orally twice daily for 7 days if not pregnant. But for most cases, 5-day course should do just well. But for reassuring chlamydia cure, be tested in 1-2 weeks after this 5-day use of Doxycycline. For minimizing reinfection or spread, make sure the partner be tested, treated, and followed if any possible. Other option is one dose of Azithromycin.

Yes: Your period should not interfere with your test for Clamydia. Have you been checked for GC as well. All the best.
