Yes: Muscle strains (torn muscle) in general take about 2-6 weeks to heal . Abdominal strains are particularly painful since they are constantly being used to maintain your posture when standing etc. Therapist can help ease the pain, promote rapid healing and muscle function and give advice on lessening the pain

does it matter if i see a physical therapist or pain management? i have mild arthrosis and marginal osteophyte formation as seen by a xray. i ended up by accident seeing a pain management therapist. would the exercises from pain be worse on my knees

Pain: Your healthcare providers need to work in coordination w/one another.  Please make sure they communicate.  Also consider behavioral interventions such as biofeedback or clinical hypnosis (www.asch.net) as long as you have a proper diagnosis and providers are ok w/it.  Peace and good health.

hello doctor i have been feeling some numbness and tingling feeling in one of my legs and some back pain.  i went to the hospital and they gave me some medicine and said i need to see a physical therapist. so what exercises do to remove this pain?

Leg pain: PT will help by teaching you how to strengthen your back muscles, positional changes, they may add traction as well. IN most cases PT is quite helpful.

my physical therapist said it's pointless for me to see her with my hypermobility syndrome because it will all be undone, what do i do for the pain?

Find a special PT: Hypermobility does not respond to medications. Chronic use of pain medications leads to addiction or side-effects. I prefer PT to develop a strengthening regimen to support the hyper mobile joints if possible. The are only a few physical therapists that can tackle this problem. Make calls to a new PT and ask specific questions before making an appointment.

Evaluation: It depends on the exact symptoms. Recommend assessment with a musculoskeletal specialist (e.g. Sports medicine, incl. Physical medicine ; rehab, orthopaedics). Nerve pain can radiate and be electric-like down the leg from the back. Muscle tension can be a tightness or spasm. Sprains can cause pain as well. The dr may prescribe pt or referral to see a chiropractor depending on what they find.

Start with ortho: I would first have an evaluation by a spine orthopedist to figure out the extent of the problem and determine if further treatment in necessary.

i have tendinitis in my left knee. but now my right knee is swollen too. what could cause that? i have been favoring the left since been in pain. i dont see my doctor until end of november. i see my physical therapist though tomorrow so ill mention

Knee swelling: With symptoms in both knees now this may be arthritis although bilateral tendinitis is possible with fluid collection in the bursa accounting for swelling. I think it's time for you to consult a rheumatologist for diagnosis and treatment. Appropriate testing will be done to look for autoimmune disease, gout, etc.

my sacrum is still swollen after giving birth 3 months ago. do i see an orthopedic surgeon for an mri? i showed my obgyn and physical therapist and they dont know. what may be causing this?

Imaging studies: ordered by any of your doctors is appropriate. Could be resolving fracture of the sacrum.
