: At this stage there is no clinical reason why you should not persist with this habit. I suggest beng judicious and not apeearing for treatment while under the influence of the drug.

Complex: The root canal treatment is probably now recontaminated and usually will need to be 'retreated'. However, if this loosening has occurred, then it may be that there is not enough solid tooth to support the crown and biting forces. Might not be a good idea to fix this, but rather extract it and have an implant placed with a crown after 3 - 4 months. See prosthodontist for options. Good luck.

what is crowning? normally those that did root canal treatment did the crowning also. does it permanently stick to teeth?

Tooth Covering: A crown, also referred to as a cap, is a covering that is placed over a tooth. Crowns are placed to protect a tooth from failure, such as breaking, or to replace parts of a missing tooth. A crown is permanently cemented to the tooth. If the crown falls off it can easily be recemented by a dentist.

my molar didnt get a temporary crown after a root canal. i was told to chew on the side with the new root canal due to an apicoectomy on the other side of my mouth. i wasnt told to avoid hard food. so i chewed broccoli. is my molar fractured now?

: Probably not. The tooth in question is out of occlusion so it's hard to put excessive force on it. Unless it hurts when biting down, don't worry.

is it common for a molar to not get a temporary crown after a root canal? is shaving down the tooth enough to prevent damage even though i was told that i need to chew on the side of my mouth with the new root canal given the other side had a surgery?

: It is neither common or uncommon. Each dentist makes their own decision regarding fabrication of temporary prosthetics.

Prognosis?: After root canal treatment (rct) is done, the final treatment depends on the likelihood of survival for a long-term. Generally, it is best to do all right away: the tooth must be sealed well from the root tip (done by doing rct) ; the top, which requires fill/crown etc. The tooth after rct may need to be monitored  sometimes. Since this depends on your condition, ask your doctor for specifics.

Crown Ajustments: Good day;
    These days many crowns are constructed of ceramic materials. Root canal treatment can not be performed once these crowns are cemented.  You need to speak with your dentist before cementation. Older metal/ porcelain crowns may be temporarily cemented, if the tooth remains painful, endodontic treatment can be initiated without destroying the crown. Communicate with your dentist !!

if i had crown removed, decay removed, root canal, new crown, and decay wasnt totally gone, what happens?

Future failure: If there is remaing decay under a new crown, it can continue to progress and deteriorate the remaining tooth structure.  Since a root canal has already been performed, the nerve inside the tooth is missing.  Therefore, the decay can continue to destroy the tooth, without any pain sensation or sensory feedback. Then one day, without warning, the crown can fallout, leaving an unrestorable tooth.

filling was used to cover up the hole left from the root canal. is that the normal procedure or should a new crown be placed?

Engineering: A post may be placed in the tooth to engineer the maintenance of strength, and then a core filling material is constructed on top.  This can give adequate strength to have a crown placed on this tooth for the longer term usefulness.

Reasons vary: It is not uncommon that recent root canal therapy remains painful to the tooth. The tooth may need as long as a year to heal from the therapy, so it is common that a dentist simply fills the hole and monitor before placing a new crown. The tissue under the tooth could swell and the crown may need to be reshaped, so a new crown later may not be a bad idea. Ask your dr about your specific situation.
