i am on several different meds that can cause constipation.i forgot i took milk of magnesia this morning (60 ml of phillips cherry flavored) and then took 300 mg of citrate and 150 mg combined of malate, glycinate, and taurateis this bad??

: Unless you have kidney dysfunction, this level of magnesium intake is not dangerous. High doses of magnesium cause loose stool, so if that is not happening, then you’re fine. I’m the future though, stick with the msg citrate &amp; milk of magnesia varieties for constipation. The other more expensive magnesium supplements are best for those who desire to boost mag levels, as they are better absorbed.

If eaten in excess.: If eaten one cup per serving, cherries prevent diarrhea and constipation.  Eating too many cherries can cause stomach upset. Cherries contain quercetin, a flavonoid giving antioxidant protection against  free radicals, but in excess it
can produce nausea and vomiting. A serious concern should also  be the pesticide intake, unless the cherries are organic.

This may lead to improper colon function and distension of the colon possibly affecting the muscle tone and natural peristalsis or wave like motions of the intestine which propel the waste materials towards the anal opening.  A well balanced diet high in fiber and water decreases constipation. See your doctor for  an exam.

Some meds contribute to constipation so take the meds with full glass of fluid instead of a sip in addition to the above recommended fluids.

Hard, dry poop: Constipation is caused by dry, hard stool which often becomes retained in the rectum & colon. Stay well hydrated (at least 8 - 8 oz glasses of water per day). Eat 5 vegetable & 4 fruit servings per day – get that fiber in.  Avoid junk carbohydrates. Stay physically active. You can also consider an otc laxative.

Apples: Do not cause consolation.  They actually help bowel movements.  Please see doctor to determine the cause.  In general, avoid binding foods like cheese and carbs. Eat high fiber foods like fruits and vegetables.  Walk daily.  Drink water.  Peace and good health.  Prunes are good.

Kalms: Kalms is valerian root extract used to help reduce the effects of stress.  It should not cause constipation, but also won't really do anything to help with constipation in my experience.      Magnesium added to this may be quite helpful.
