what is the best antidepressant to take if you are taking thyroid medication?

All r good: We used to add a low dose of thyroid med to some treatment resistant depressed patients--the combination is no problem.

what can a 74 year old woman, in great physical shape, take for anxiety but not antidepressants (tried most all) which only make the anxiety worse? taking no rx but armour thyroid, 60mg a day. anxiety recently from losing long term husband. thank you?

See answer: Antidepressants don't affect thyroid function. Safe to take thyroid medication together with antidepressants as prescribed.  Some symptoms of depression and thyroid disorder may overlap. However, the cause may be one or the other. Lengthy medical training provides that expertise. Take care.

pulse,90s. ekg possible left abnormality. bph normal, choles. normal. should i,be concerned about not living as long as someone with a lower pulse? i am 68: wt. 26 bmi. thyroid ok. on antidepressant with norepinephrine-but need to take. i exercise?

: Your relatively high heart rate but still in normal range which could be a side effect of SNRI antidepressant. Continue to exercise and keep your body mass in range, you should be fine, nothing specific for a poor prognosis.

Possible: I don't think withdrawal from any medication would "choose" what area your pain would blossom.  Generally, withdrawal pain is more generalized.

An endocrinologist: is the kind of doc to see.  They specialize in hormonal imbalances like thyroid.  There are natural ways to treat the thyroid but it all needs to be coordinated w/your docs.  Peace and good health.

19 y/o. no motivation, low sex drive, always tired etc. testosterone and thyroid are good. i am on a anti depressant and i still feel the same. help!

No motivation: Please reflect on your lifestyle.  How is your diet and nutrition?  Junk food?  Do you exercise even a little as in some brisk walking?  Getting enough sleep?  Consider seeing a mental health professional for diagnosis and treatment.  Medication may help but you appear to need more.  Peace and good health.  Treat yourself from every angle.

can artery pain on the pulse in the neck be simply referred pain from missing a few doses of anti depressant (cymbalta)?

Indirectly: First, see your provider to rule out cardio-vascular issues. If all is fine it may be that your emotional distress  is leading to somatic symptoms. Tightening muscles might create such pain and perhaps a therapist can teach skills to manage your feelings better. Also, the missed doses might have started some w/drawal effects. Be diligent w/ powerful meds. It matters. Take care!

Discuss with doc (s): High % of GI pts have depression & their GI sx are frequently helped by antidepressant meds but this is something that needs to be determined by your doc (s).
