See below: You need to be evaluated by a physician asap. Since you fell down the stairs and it appears you may have lost consciousness, this needs to be further evaluated with a CT scan of your head and other workup. Please go to the nearest ER.

Head/ neck injury: Did you get checked out in ED? You should have been evaluated urgently and probably should have had a CT  of your head, possibly neck to look for brain injury, intracranial bleeding, and spinal injury. You may have had a concussion with post- concussive vertigo, but you should get seen and evaluated ASAP by primary care or ED and probably neurology. An ENT evaluation of the vertigo may help too.

Ouch!: Sounds like you smacked your head pretty hard! So sorry!  I know that really hurts. I guess we've all done it at some time or another. If you didn't lose consciousness, are not having constant headaches, not having memory loss, blurred or double vision, difficulty waking up,  you probably didn't do anything serious. You may be sore tomorrow though.

Lightheaded: Depending on how long this has been going on will depend on how aggressive you need to address it or whether a watchful waiting approach is appropriate. The fact that motion/movement seems to set it off indicates that it may be related to the inner ear. However, if it has been lasting more than a day or two you should seek medical attention.

If headache increases especially if associated with increased nausea or vomiting call 911 immediately.  Otherwise, continue to monitor and you can take tylenol (acetaminophen) for headache and rest for the next day or so.
