Sounds inner ear: Although it is unusual to have vertigo after eating, the presence of true spinning with head movements sounds like Benign positional vertigo.  This is the most common cause of inner ear vertigo and can be treated with physical therapy by a trained PT with expertise in vestibular therapy.

Vertigo: Does it feel like the room is spinning around you? Especially since you describe your dizziness occurring in  a particular position, you may have benign positional vertigo (BPV). Visit your physician for an exam. Your physician can perform the Epley maneuver to try to treat you. A few thots: Maybe a local inner ear issue on the left, or perhaps, arterial compression in neck due to position, or even intracranial issues such as colloid cyst presentation.  In some cases, a videonystagmogram will provide localization and therapeutic directions.  If inner ear, an epley maneuver may work wonders.

BPPV: Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is one possibility. Often patients find that feels like room spins when they roll over in one direction in bed. These are brief dizziness attacks due to otoliths (stones) in ear that are out of place. It is treatable and can be treated using exercises called the Epley maneuver that you can find online and do.
