Vertigo: Does it feel like the room is spinning around you? Especially since you describe your dizziness occurring in  a particular position, you may have benign positional vertigo (BPV). Visit your physician for an exam. Your physician can perform the Epley maneuver to try to treat you. ? vertebro-basilar: insufficiency, meaning: the arteries supplying your head with blood get kinked a bit when you extend your neck, so blood going through your head is reduced causing the dizziness, or could be your inner ears. Positional vertigo: It is common to experience vertigo on extending the head back and lowering the head. That is due to the inner ear balancing mechanism being stimulated and that can make you nauseous.

Go slow: It's called orthostatic hypotension. There is no routine on how to recover. Just gradually try to sit up.  When the dizziness gets to you, lower back to a level that is tolerable or look at something solid and unmoving (ceiling) .  Baroreceptors in your vessels regulate your BP and they have gotten "lazy" with bed rest.  Just go slow and increase your sitting up time.  Takes time.

Allergic Rhinitis: Yes this could be causing dizziness. Some of our balance centers are located in the middle ear which could be blocked. A decongestant such as Claritin-D, Allegra-D or Zyrtec-D may be helpful along with a nasal spray such as Flonase or nasonex (mometasone).

Unknown: Dizziness with neck movement can represent a variety of possible causes including neck muscle spasm (seen in younger people), arterial compromise (seen in older people), and vertigo from vestibulitis  (seen in all age groups).  A neurologist is the specialist best able to provide a differential diagnosis of such problems.
