Not usually: You can, but there is more of a possiblity of a adverse reaction, children are different,Thier bones heal faster and better, It also depends on where  your fracture is at, in relationship to the Ankle joint and knee joint also if the fracture is displaced and comminuted or is it hairline.

Talk to your doctor: Your are not at risk for ongoing muscle tears at this point. Muscle may have been injured at the time of your injury but should not be at risk now. The return to exercise and strengthening depends on the amount of bone healing that has occurred and the overall  stability  of your fracture.

Fracture care: At 6 wks s/p im nailing of tib/fib with removal of cast,  the typical radiography would show bone callus and at least 75% healing across fracture sites. This is usually seen in a healthy patient with no co-morbidities.

If these bones move it is very difficult to put them back 100 percent in place also you will usually have ligament damage along with the fracture if the bones are displaced. The other side of the ankle can sometimes be sprained or have a fracture.The Danis Weber classifications help guide treatment. Type A fractures might do well with  a cast or walking boot.  Type B fractures might nonweightbearing or surgery. Type C needs surgery.

No: You do not have to remove the hardware put in by the surgeon. It can be removed if it is painful or compromises motion. The bone will be weak after removal and can re-break if not protected until the holes heal.
