Do i need to have screws and plates removed frollowing surgery 8 months ago for severely and complex right distal tibia pilon fracture?

No: You do not have to remove the hardware put in by the surgeon. It can be removed if it is painful or compromises motion. The bone will be weak after removal and can re-break if not protected until the holes heal.

No: Unless there is some very good reason it is ill advised to remove the hardware from a pilon fracture that soon after the operation. Although there should have been healing in 8 months it is not complete and there will be important remodeling of the bone that will occur after this. Early removal risks loss of the restored anatomy and associated ankle joint problems.
