It can usually be treated with medications, but that depends on which type of colitis it is. You should consult with your GI  doctor about what the recommendations are for your particular situation. It all depends...: Depends on what is causing the colitis. If it is an infection then antibiotics, but if we are dealing with an inflammatory colitis the medications you can use can be a wide variety targeting the inflammation and they need to be prescribed by a medical provider, not something you can take over the counter. Usually if this is the case close monitoring is needed. Follow up with GI provider on this.

Naturopathic: Supplents that are suppose to help balance the colon. Unlikely to do much harm but no proven benefit and as always be weary of any supplement since they are not fda approved. Should discuss further with your GI md.
