Usually not: Saliva generally has a low concentration of truly dangerous pathogens.  On the intact corneal and conjunctival surface you have antibodies which neutralize many pathogens.  Getting blood splashed into the eye is a different story which can transmit HIV and hepatitis.  Just wash your eye out and  you should be ok.

Yes, but unlikely: Yes, it is possible but unlikely.  The spit would have to contain infectious organisms which would have to find purchase. The tears also rinse bacteria and such away. Bacteria landing on the eye usually get bound by antibodies in tears then rinsed through the punctum to the back of the nose, down the throat, to the stomach where strong acid kills them.

Some yes, mostly no: Colds and flu can be spread this way, and perhaps gastrointestinal infections like norovirus, but few serious infections. For example, no significant risk of blood borne infections like HIV or viral hepatitis.

Very unlikely: It would be technically a possibility but very unlikely.

Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine

Blood exposure: Blood can carry disease &amp; spread to another person. The other person would first have to have an active contagious infectious disease like hepatitis b, hepatitis c, or HIV.  If you know the person, you can ask about their medical history. Even then the  transmission is unlikely. Being vaccinated provides protection from Hepatitis B.  Option to test for Hepatitis C and HIV &amp; consider treatment.

See details: This is unlikely to cause any issues other than a localized eye irritation or infection. It is more likely to cause no issues.

No risk: This is one of those theoretical risks that has never been known to happen. Don't worry about it. Of course if you are otherwise at risk or concerned you could have HIV, get tested. But not because of this event.

Get tested, wear ppg: Your client is HIV + and splits which is unfortunate.  You would be best served to wear personal protected gear which would include side shields on your glasses.  The presents of blood from periodontal disease, gum disease, puts you at higher risk.  It would be prudent to get tested for HIV.

i have been diagnosed with sjrogen's disease and want to know how is this treated as the symptoms i have are different than the main ones-dryness of eyes and mouth.?

Accepted Answer

Dry eyes are common: Sjogren's is typically dry eyes, dry mouth and possibly arthritis.  It is an autoimmune condition where the lacrimal gland is invaded by autoimmune cells, causing moderate to severe dryness.  I usually start Restasis eye drops twice daily to help prevent worsening.  Talk to your eye doctor if this seems appropriate for you.
